Freelance Writer (temporary): Master of Health Care Innovation Online Program
The University of Pennsylvania’s Master of Health Care Innovation (MHCI) program invites applications for a remote temporary writer position. The writer will discover and tell the stories of learning experiences, thought leadership, and impact of the MHCI, a program that leads from the intersection of health care innovation and online education. An initial commitment would be for spring and summer 2022, to create profiles for a redesigned website. The writer will work with the Senior Marketing Manager and the Director for Online Educational Initiatives.
Through transformative learning experiences, the MHCI forges a diverse network of innovative thinkers and leaders passionate about improving health care. Faculty—drawn from across Penn—are leading experts in health policy, operations management, behavioral economics, innovation methodologies, health equity, and leadership. Students apply their MHCI experience immediately in their work as clinicians, executives, directors, researchers, entrepreneurs, consultants, and more. The program is based in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy (MEHP) in the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM). We are profoundly committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and are seeking candidates who support and foster this commitment.
• Collaborate with MEHP Online staff to determine assignment details, including topics and sources.
• Write copy and headlines for two stories per month (~750 words each) to publish on the MEHP Online website, with a byline. Posts should spotlight the learning experiences, thought leadership, and impact of the Master of Health Care Innovation program. Subjects may include alumni, faculty, students, and the program itself. Content is subject to one round of edits.
• Suggest a featured image to accompany the story.
• Write a 50-word post for LinkedIn and Twitter to accompany each story to promote word-of-mouth about the MHCI.
• Demonstrated interviewing and writing experience, including telling a story concisely and compellingly online, in print, or as multimedia. Writing about health care or higher education is preferred.
• Commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to deliver assignments within scope and on deadline.
• Ability to collaborate with staff on story development and editing.
