Barbaricum is seeking an experienced Graphic Designer to provide support to a Department of Veterans Affairs customer charged with preparing servicemembers for transition into civilian status. This individual will play a key role as part of a team developing a branding and communication strategy to support veterans and their families, as well as providing education for key audiences in the Federal government and improving web, digital and social media engagement.  
 
The Graphic Designer / Multimedia Specialist will design print and digital collateral for dissemination via social media, websites, email marketing, events, and other communication platforms. This person will also support interactive marketing, branding, and other multimedia efforts, including video production. The candidate must be able to make visual products Section 508 compliant to meet federal government accessibility standards, including structuring and tagging digital materials to be read with screen reader software and ensuring products have the appropriate captioning and color contrast.
 
This position may be performed remotely or at our corporate offices in Washington, DC, Tampa, FL, or Dayton, OH. 
Qualifications
• BA/BS degree
• Eight years of experience in communications, including graphic design and multimedia support
• Expertise creating and designing various materials for print and digital collateral (flyers, posters, presentations, web and social graphics)
• Experience in 508 compliance, including with structuring, tagging, and formatting of documents (Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro), close captioning for video, alternative text for graphics, color contrast, text size and type, and Plain Language requirements
• High proficiency with Adobe Suite, particularly with InDesign and Photoshop
• Familiarity with videography, including the video production lifecycle and using After Effects, is not required but is very desirable
• Capability in other multimedia production, interactive content design, and branding a plus
• Experience with HTML5 & CSS a plus
